Zara, $159
Well, Spring is finally here - try and ignore the frigid temps today, lol - and I couldn't be happier with all the bright, fresh and ladylike looks I'm seeing in stores for Spring/Summer 2014! Bright pastels, flowy tea length skirts, cropped jackets, wide-leg trousers, comfy and lightweight knit sweaters...spring has sprung!
One of my first steps when updating my spring/summer wardrobe, is to find a fabulous and unique caftan. They're timeless, elegant and easily dressed up or down whether headed on holiday or staying in town for a garden party. One of my go-to stores is always Calypso St. Barth - which finally arrived in Georgetown with a new boutique on M Street, yay! - because they have a beautiful selection of quality pieces and it's a one-stop-shop when I'm helping a client pack for a warm-weather getaway.
Adilette Silk Habotai Caftan $495, Calypso St. Barth
Graphic prints are once again very popular this season and I stumbled upon the below dress during my last trip to Zara and let's just say, the model or picture do not do this dress justice! It's a super comfy, back-zip dress in a soft scuba gear-like material. Plus, you can pair it with multiple colors of shoes AND it's only $59.90! :o)
Zara
Next up, these sexy strappy fire engine-red heels are the best buy ever! You'll rock these all summer long and the price, $59.90, makes them well-worth scooping up one in red and black! :o)

I also found this fabulous "tweed"-esque cropped cream jacket with gold hardware. It's a great piece to have on hand and throw over tops or dresses and especially important to have to create the perfect all-white or white-and-cream look, which is very on trend this season.
Zara Blazer with Zips, $119
Looking for comfy and lightweight knits? This poncho-like sweater from Zara is perfect and comes in white, black and baby blue. Wear it with shorts, jeans, over a dress, a swimsuit or with a skirt...this sweater will get a lot of wear.
Zara Boat Neck Poncho, $49.90
As I mentioned earlier, pastels are a huge trend this season and one of my favorite pastels is - mint green!
Zara Blouse, $59.90
Zara Maxi Dress, $99.90
Next up, are some splurge worthy pieces! First up, this gorgeous soft double angora lavender trench from Burberry, which was worn by Olivia Pope's mother on last week's 'Scandal' episode (who else out there loves that show?! Fashion , politics & DC...I'm addicted!). It is a super sophisticated and classic trench that can work as an outfit all on its own. Divine.

So, I LOVE London-based designer L.K. Bennett - as does Kate Middleton who was recently photographed in a stunning yellow dress by L.K. Bennett - and the gorgeous dress below is worth the splurge. This ladylike dress screams "Spring!" and would work perfectly at a wedding or cocktail function. Plus, the wisely placed flower prints makes this dress super figure-flattering! Oh, and did I mention, Mindy was wearing this dress on this week's episode of 'The Mindy Project'? :o)

Elie Tahari created his Capsule Collection "The 1974 Collection" this year in celebration of his 40th Anniversary, and one of the dresses I've been craving is this gorgeous lightweight navy blue leather, A-line dress. It's another figure-flattering piece, a great pairing of ladylike and edginess, and works paired with a neutral pump OR have some fun and pair it with a bright coral colored pump.

If you're up for splurging $$$ on a fabulous power-dress (an essential in every woman's closet) then search no more as this stunning Stella McCartney dress will stop people in their tracks as you strut down the city streets! Throw a cream-colored blazer over it in the office, pair with nude, orange or cognac colored pumps, accent with gold jewelry and you'll radiate...especially against sun-kissed skin. Tres chic!
Stella McCartney, $1,865
