In case you weren't able to make it to my SOLD OUT Elie Tahari show last week, which took place inside The Grill Room at the Capella Georgetown as part of our ongoing Style Series, here's a fabulous recap!
It was such a pleasure to bring one of my favorite designers, Elie Tahari, in to officially launch this year's Style Series since he is one of the first designers to actually give Yours Truly a break during my first ventures covering Fashion Week, granting me backstage access with an interview and an amazing seat during the show. So this coupled with the chic, smart and fashionable ladies of DC made it a perfect pairing.
Guests enjoyed an informal presentation of Elie Tahari's spring/summer '14 collection and his 40th anniversary capsule collection, Elie Tahari Edition 1974 - a special collection featuring "updated iconic silhouettes from the past four decades, all named after New York City neighborhoods, a city that has provided me with endless inspiration," said Elie Tahari. The presentation was accompanied by a delicious 2-course lunch from Chef Jacob Esko and followed by shopping - all the looks guests saw during the presentation and more were available for purchase on-site inside the pop-up boutique.
In addition, Mr. Tahari was featured in a special video message to guests elaborating on his collections and taking us back 40 years to when he first began his career here in the United States. His is a truly amazing story from a humble and grateful gentleman who achieved the American dream leaving us all inspired and uplifted.
Now, on to some of the looks from the presentation!
Above, model Rebekah is wearing The Pearson Jacket paired with the Terra Blouse and Ella Pant. The Pearson jacket has become one of Elie's most recognized styles and this variation has pastel colored tweed with contrasting white leather pieces on the cuffs and shoulder. I love this jacket because it's extremely versatile - pair it as shown, with skinny jeans or throw it over a dress! The Terra Blouse is silk and silver sequined - a great party piece to have in your wardrobe to pair under blazers and jackets or wear solo - and the Ella Pant is part of Elie's "Soft Pant" collection. The pants feature cargo pockets as well as snaps at the pant of the leg that allows you to manipulate the length - these are must-haves for Spring/Summer!
Below is a full picture of model Lauren's (above) outfit - the Mae Jacket, Patrice Short, and Vivian Blouse. The Mae Jacket is an updated Moto Jacket which plays on the Lux Sport Trend with perforated white leather - a huge trend for spring/summer - and brushed metal hardware. The Patrice Short is a white python embossed jacquard short and perfect for dressing up or down. The Vivian Blouse in a soft sky color is a silk tunic that plays with transparency and length. Next to Lauren is Rebekah wearing the Bond Coat paired with the Selena Jean and Chantelle Sweater. The Bond Coat is part of the 1974 Collection named after Bond Street in NY. This is an amazing jacket - a splurge-worthy investment piece - that is laser cut with an intricate working of geometric lines and shapes.

The Elie Tahari team set-up a beautiful pop-up boutique inside the Private Dining Room where guests were able to shop til' they dropped!

Clothing from first photo:
I'm wearing Elie Tahari, the Mila Dress (which is on sale right now) and shoes are Christian Louboutin.
Lauren (blonde model) is wearing the Mulberry Dress, $1498, from Elie Tahari's 1974 Collection. Named after Mulberry Street in NYC, this dress is leather with laser cut with an intricate working of geometric lines and shapes.
Rebekah (brunette model) is wearing another one of my favorite pieces from the show - the Madison Jumpsuit - which is also a part of the 1974 Collection and named after Madison Ave on which Elie opened his first boutique. This is simply put a must-have for all - jumpsuits are on-trend for spring/summer and this one is quite unique...while the front looks like a complete jumpsuit, the back gives the illusion of a two-piece, the top has an exposed zipper down the center of the back and the bottom is loose throughout the thigh and leg, a "soft pant" bottom silhouette.
