Trending for Spring 2013

.. AND STRIPES FORVER

 Stripes are classic and will forver be an essential to your wardrobe and the Nautical Trend returns once again this season stronger than ever.  Turn things up a notch though and avoid the traditional navy and white combo and instead opt to mix your "nauti" stripes with bright colors like sherbert yellow or a lipstick red cigarette pants.

I love this next top because it incoporates another fav trend of mine - peplum, which I'm happy to report will be sticking around for another season.  You could pair this top with a bold-colored bottom or keep it classic and sleek with a black pencil skirt...yet another versatile piece to add to your wardrobe. :o)

PRETTY PLEATS

The schoolgirl pleat is a hot trend for Spring 2013 and don't think your pleats have to remain in your skirts.  This season we're seeing pleats from head to toe, like with this perfectly pleated blouse from Ann Taylor.  (On a side note: I believe Ann Taylor really hit a homerun this season with their collection and their work with a new Creative Director the past couple of years has paid off.   They've turned their image from a "Corporate Cathy"-look to something more appealing to women that want to make the most of their wardrobe both in and OUT of the office.)  

The pleated top below is an "April's Favorite" and would look amazing in the office with a fitted black or lipstick red pencil skirt (fun!) and out of the office, keep the lipstick red pencil skirt or pair it with a pair of starch white, cropped skinny jeans...so many possibilities with this piece!

This next dress by BCBG Maxazria - a pleated green maxi dress - is simply divine.  It's ethereal, feminine and sexy and perfect for any of your upcoming warm weather occasions - like a beach wedding or a Garden Party.  Accessorizing the dress is easy because you can pair this beautiful shade of green with so many colors.  Try wearing with a mint green, yellow or fuchsia clutch and a pair of chandelier earrings.

One can't go without a classic A-line skirt and this pleated silk-blend skirt from JCrew Collection will go a long way in your wardrobe.  You can dress it up or down and it will never go out of style.  I'm a sucker for pairing mine with a classic white button down, tucked in, and throwing on a pair of nude pumps and chunky pearls - so chic and ladylike, a killer combo!

PRETTY PRINTS

Not only are cropped pants a must-have for the upcoming season but pants with prints are too!  Don't be scared to stray away from pairing them with a neutral and try out mixing your prints - when paired correctly you really pull off a unique look.

 COLORBLOCKING

Making another return to the scene is one of my favorite trends - colorblocking.  You all know how it works so I don't need to go in to deets about this trend.  ;-)

I love black and white together and this season you'll see plenty of it!  Mix your tops and bottoms or opt for a dress like the Cascade strapless colorblock dress and pair it with a bright red or cobalt blue heel, fierce!

PEEK-A-BOO PIECES

This next trend is not for the faint of heart, but when done correctly can look great!  You see, many designers decided to take a pair of scissors to their final looks and cut out areas to show a little more skin.  I'd suggest leaning towards dresses with smaller cut outs above the waist and to pop in for a quick spray tan to give your skin a healthy glow all over.  :o)
